Sandbagging the MetroCenter Levee

by faintgraylines | | View Comments

Approximately 200 Nashvillians sandbagged the levee at MetroCenter today – despite MNPD officers explicitly saying we were entering the neighborhood “at our own risk,” and that if the levee went out we’d likely go out with it – with some good representation from the liberal blogosphere and the Twitterverse. Politicians helping included Councilman Jamie Hollin, State Senate primary candidate Jeff Yarbro, and Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mike McWherter. No sighting of Mayor Haslam’s red umbrella or Lieutenant Governor Ramsey’s tacky boots. Assuming Congressman Wamp was at the state line.

Here are some photos I took while we rested between truckloads of sandbags.

Unphotographed people I knew included my and LadyLib’s college buddy Jeremy Elrod, @walrusoct9, @missbethd, @polerin, @kateo and @morganplex.

Anyone else I forgot – it was hardly intentional, so let me know!

    Kev,
I'm sorry it's not politicizing; it is reporting who was there and who was not. Others have gone out of there way to expound upon why POTUS had not offered help. I see far more vitriol coming from the right and far more help coming from the left. I'm just calling it like I see it.

Thanks for politicizing something that need not be political.
